We encourage our volunteer groups to hold their own fundraisers.  Leave it to Ramona Gattis with our Pasadena (Texas) group to set one up.  Ramona recently moved to Pasadena from Waco where she was District Coordinator for Central Texas.  Upon her relocation, she resigned the Central Texas position and accepted the position of District Coordinator for Pasadena (and surrounding area).  You can now help her reach her $5000 goal she set for her first fundraiser by visiting FirstGiving.com and making a donation using your credit card.  Please be assured that The Lindsay Foundation will receive the funds donated.

Our thanks goes out to all the Volunteers that were at Porter WalMart for our Ride for the Bear registration and again to those that showed up at Joe Pedigo City Park in Livingston to help with our auction....this includes volunteers from Louisiana that came into Livingston with their riders.  It was a great time.

On Saturday December 20, the volunteers for our Louisiana chapter held their first fundraising event.  To the left is Lisa Maricle explaining what The Lindsay Foundation will use the money from the bake sale for.

Our thanks to Lisa Maricle, Laurie Smith and Cherice Click for all their hard work in making their HUGE BAKE SALE a success by bringing in $600.  We also want to say "Thank You" to all of those who donated their baked goods for the event.

Many thanks to our volunteers that turned out to help us at the Ride for the Bear 2008.  We scheduled a volunteer get-together for Saturday May 17th but, as it turned out, that's not a good day.  We will re-schedule and advise all.  We want you to know how important you are to the working of the Foundation.  Thank you so very much.

We now have a group of volunteers working in Louisiana.  Lisa Maricle is the District Coordinator and she's doing a great job.  We look forward to 2008 and what Louisiana can bring to the Foundation.

On June 23, we held our Volunteer Appreciation luncheon to recognize the volunteers that worked during the 2007 Ride for the Bear.  In attendance were Board Members Laurie McMillan, Melissa Davis and Larry McMillan.   Public Relations Director Helen McMillan also acts as Volunteer Coordinator and was in attendance to present certificates to Holly Lewis, Karen Wells, Robert Davis, Scott Hammond, Virginia McMillan and Larry Stochowiak.  Bill Dellinger accepted the certificate for his wife Donnie who was out of town.  Also in attendance to support their spouses were Larry Lewis and Linda Stochowiak.  After the presentation, we enjoyed a barbecue lunch from Sweets n' Meats in Splendora TX.

The volunteers that were unable to attend received their certificates in the mail.  We want to recognize Fredia Bassham, Jackie & Kevin Cooper, Charles Cunningham, Jackie Gaskins, Peggy Moody, Tonia Nations, Anita Pierce, Brooke Smith, Dee Dee Thomas, Joe & Kim Walshak and Dorothy Wooley.  Our thanks to Bro. Billy Hensarling for filling the position of Chaplain and starting the ride with a word of prayer.

It goes without saying that we want to recognize Edye & Trey McMillan for their work as Event Coordinators.

Volunteer attendance at our February 17th meeting was light but the food was plentiful.  We got our envelopes stuffed with information about our upcoming Ride for the Bear that is going out to individuals.  That was done after our volunteer meeting.  We had two new volunteers in attendance, Jackie Cooper and Donnie Dellinger.  We also added our first Cub Volunteer, Jacob Nations age 8.  (His volunteer activities will be in the company of his mother, Montgomery County Volunteer Coordinator Tonia Nations.)  We assigned positions at the Ride for the Bear registration and at the dinner.  It was announced that any volunteer that shows up without assignment will be responsible for their own expenses.  Let us hear from you if you wish to participate as a volunteer.

Our volunteers are really busy.  We don't always have (or take) the time to get the information on this site for all to see but we want them to know how much we appreciate them and their hard work.  We still owe you some pictures from the 2006 golf tournament and we will get them on here.

In the meantime, we have a meeting scheduled for Saturday February 17 at 1:PM.  After the meeting we will stuff envelopes to mail out information to our riders and other individuals concerning our 2007 Ride for the Bear charity motorcycle ride.  We have asked our volunteers to watch this site to find out who is attending and what they will be bringing to contribute to our lunch.

The Foundation will provide the plates, napkins, etc. as well as drinks.

Larry McMillan (our Treasurer) has volunteered to grill hot dogs.

Mona Gattis will bring 2 bags of chips and some dip.

Sheryl Blackman will bring a veggie tray.

Larry and Holly Lewis will bring chocolate chip cookies.  They are also bringing Karen Wells.

We're happy to announce the appointment of Tonia Nations as our Volunteer Coordinator for West Montgomery County.  She has offered her support of the surrounding areas until a coordinator is appointed.  Tonia has served as a volunteer and has been a tremendous asset to the Foundation.  Thank you, Tonia, for all your hard work.

On July 24th, we presented our Foundation to some of the Waco Independent School District school nurses.  The presentation was done by Public Relations Director Helen McMillan who was accompanied by Treasurer Larry McMillan, Volunteer Coordinator for Central Texas Mona Gattis, and volunteer Larry Gattis.  There were 10 nurses in attendance and they were attentive and receptive to the information.  They asked a lot of questions in able to learn more about our Foundation and also requested additional materials.

Our thanks to Charlene Parker and Jan Brigham of the Waco ISD for making this endeavor possible.  We look forward to being able to assist families in that area.

On July 13th, some of our volunteers gathered at Plum Grove City Hall and assembled, folded, stuffed envelopes, placed mailing labels and sealed the envelopes for 1300 packets of information about the upcoming Golf Tournament going out to potential sponsors.  (We apologize for failing to take photographs so that you would be able to see the fun that we had!)  Our thanks to Melissa and Robert Davis, Tonia Nations, Public Relations Director Helen McMillan, Edye and Trey McMillan (with 4-year-old daughter Brittany), Larry and Holly Lewis, Karen Wells and Pastor Billy Hensarling.  Also assisting were President Laurie McMillan, Vice President Mark Sather and Treasurer Larry McMillan.

We were served hot dogs, chips, potato salad, baked beans and drinks.  (We have learned to feed our "flock"!)

Our thanks to all of these volunteers for their hard work.  Our thanks also to Laurie McMillan, Larry McMillan and Helen McMillan for saving the cost of printing or copying the color flyers by printing all 1300 of them on their personal printers.

We'll have another get-together to mail out to potential golfers.  If you're one of our volunteers and are interested in joining us, or if you need information about becoming a volunteer, contact us and we'll get the necessary information to you.  If we don't hear from our volunteers, you will hear from us.

Once again, we wish to thank our volunteers for their participation in yet another event.  On  Tuesday June 27 a  group of us visited Texas Children's Hospital to hand out Lindsay Bears to  the patients.  Pictured on the top row, left to right, are Dorothy Marshall, Edye McMillan, and Betty Richardson.  Pictured on the bottom row, left to right, are Virginia McMillan, Helen McMillan (Public Relations Director) and Anita Pierce.  (All pictured are holding Lindsay Bears.)  While their PR Director was meeting with Valerie Bowman of Texas Children's Hospital and Carmen Dickerson of Meyer Clinic for Developmental Pediatrics, these volunteers were working hard.  Susan and Amy, volunteers for Texas Children's Hospital, took these ladies around 6 floors of the hospital to hand out a total of 121 Lindsay Bears.

Our thanks to all....our volunteers and theirs....for a job well done.
